Art born on the
water's edge
We are a small and humble coastal gallery rooted in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa,
where we get to celebrate the intersection of an aesthetically beautiful part of the world, with real people and real made-by-humans art in real-world and digital form in a wondrous expression of shared lived experience that we call life.
Art on the Beach began with a simple conviction:
That art which can find a home will find it - You just have to give it somewhere fertile to sprout. So we bootstrapped ourselves to be wherever we could get closer to people
and that's how and why you find us today on the famous Seapoint, Cape Town promenade in our modified shipping container cum art gallery.
There we bring together artworks of bronze, resin, reclaimed plastic and photographic and digital art prints and poems and mixed media of all sorts
in an atmosphere as open and informal as the sea beside us.
But rest assured, the informality of our venue does not equate to competence or intent or a lack of either. We have the pedigree of representing a multi-award winning resident artist and mentor
in the shape of Marco Olivier and we represent a small but deliberately curated group of South African
artists whose work ethic is notable and whose pieces reward sustained attention.
We believe in limited editions,
in knowing where every piece goes, and in the relationship between maker,
collector and object that follows a work out of the studio and into the world.
Authenticity
Every piece is original. Every edition is numbered. Every certificate is signed. We do not deal in reproductions or unlicensed prints.
Provenance
We maintain a permanent registry of every numbered edition sold. Your artwork's history is traceable from studio to collection.
Relationship
We introduce collectors to artists and artists to collectors. The conversation continues long after the sale.
Sustainability
We work with virgin and with reclaimed and recycled materials. We choose packaging and shipping partners who share our values.
